WE GOT TIRED OF ASKING
"HII NI KILO KWELI?"

Method: ORDER, PIMA, FIKISHA
About
The CHOMA BAZE
story
It started with a kilo that wasn't a kilo.
Â
It was a Saturday evening, and I had taken my Mamaa out for a proper treat. We drove to Kamakis, the home of nyama choma, and found a nice kajoint by the roadside. We picked a table, ordered two kilos of goat, and waited with the smell of smoke in the air, loud boring music and the promise of a good evening.
Â
When the meat arrived, we looked at the plate, then at each other, then back at the plate.
Â
"Hii ni kilo kweli?"
Â
If you've eaten nyama choma in Nairobi, you know that moment. You pay for a kilo and get what looks like half. The bones somehow weigh more than the meat. You never saw it weighed, and asking feels awkward, especially when you're out trying to impress someone special, so you smile, pay and move on.
Â
That day we didn't move on. We started asking around, and everyone had a story: the "kilo" that fed one person, the scale nobody was allowed to see, the extra bones thrown in to make up the weight.
Â
Then there was the other problem. Every weekend, wanting nyama choma meant getting dressed, sitting in traffic, finding parking and waiting an hour, when all you really wanted was to stay home with family and friends and still eat well.
Â
So we built ChomaBaze.
Â
ChomaBaze is nyama choma done honestly and brought to your door. Our promise is simple:
-
Your kilo is a full kilo. Every order is weighed, and you see the weight. No guessing, no awkward questions.
-
No leaving the house. Order from your phone, and we deliver hot, fresh nyama choma with kachumbari and ugali to your baze.
-
Real choma, done right. Slow-grilled over charcoal by people who take pride in it, just like the best joints, minus the short measure.
Â
We're not here to replace the joy of nyama choma. We're here to protect it. Because a Kenyan weekend deserves honest meat, good company, and no unnecessary trips.
ChomaBaze. Full kilo. Your baze. No stories.
